BlazingMind Studios Brand Identity

A visual identity system built around a bold, cinematic game-studio personality, moving from brand strategy and hand-drawn logo exploration into a flexible final mark, color system, typography, and supporting visual direction.

01 · CONTEXT Project overview

Build a brand that can carry a whole studio

BlazingMind Studios began as my concept for an independent game and multimedia brand. For DDSGN 135, I developed the studio into a more complete identity system with a mission, voice, logo direction, color palette, typography, illustration rules, and photography direction.

The goal was not just to make a logo. The identity needed enough personality to feel cinematic and memorable while remaining clear and flexible across digital experiences, social media, promotional work, merchandise, and future game-related applications.

02 · DIRECTION Challenge + solution

Distinctive enough to be remembered. Flexible enough to grow.

The central challenge was creating an identity that felt energetic and imaginative without becoming so complicated that it would lose clarity at smaller sizes or across different brand touchpoints.

The challenge

Create a recognizable identity for a story-driven game brand

The brand needed to communicate imagination, cinematic energy, and play while still looking professional and working across digital platforms, promotional materials, app icons, social avatars, and future applications.

The solution

Build a focused system around one strong combination mark

I paired the logo with a dark immersive foundation, bright accent colors, clear type roles, and supporting illustration and photography rules so the brand could stay consistent without feeling repetitive.

03 · STRATEGY Brand foundation

Start with the personality before drawing the mark

The identity was built around a clear mission and voice. BlazingMind Studios is positioned as an independent game brand focused on story-rich worlds, imaginative visuals, and player connection.

Bold. Imaginative. Cinematic. Community-minded.

The original style-guide page established the studio mission and core values.

04 · PROCESS Logo exploration

Explore first. Narrow the idea after.

I began with hand-drawn thumbnail sketches instead of jumping directly into polished software. The sketches tested different combinations of flames, brains, sparks, portal shapes, initials, game imagery, and wordmarks.

Broad exploration gave me room to compare literal and abstract directions before committing to a final symbol. I then narrowed the stronger concepts into larger sketches where I could evaluate silhouette, balance, and how the mark would sit beside the studio name.

Early ideation moved from many small thumbnails into a smaller set of more developed logo directions.

05 · PROCESS Digital refinement

Reduce the sketch into a cleaner visual system

The digital stage simplified the hand-drawn ideas into cleaner shapes and more controlled typography. Early concepts still explored the relationship between the brain, flame, spark, circular motion, and the BlazingMind Studios name.

This stage helped separate ideas that looked interesting as sketches from ideas that could actually function as a repeatable brandmark. The final direction moved toward a compact symbol paired with a clear wordmark rather than relying on illustration alone.

Early digital concepts tested how the imagery and wordmark could become cleaner and more scalable.

07 · SYSTEM Color palette

Use heat, contrast, and screenlight to set the mood

The palette uses a dark foundation with bright accents to create a premium, immersive base while keeping the brand energetic. Orange acts as the hero accent, magenta adds imagination and energy, cyan creates digital contrast, and mist gray provides breathing room and readability.

The palette is documented in the original brand style guide with the role of each color.

08 · SYSTEM Typography

Balance cinematic character with everyday readability

Cinzel Bold gives the brand a more cinematic and adventurous personality, while Montserrat Regular keeps supporting information modern, clean, and readable. The pairing lets the identity be expressive without making every piece of text feel decorative.

Display type
Cinzel Bold

Used for dramatic branded headings and moments that need more visual personality.

Supporting type
Montserrat Regular

Used for supporting copy where clarity, simplicity, and readability matter most.

09 · SYSTEM Supporting visual language

Extend the identity beyond the logo

The style guide also defines how illustration and photography should support the brand. These rules help future visuals feel connected to the same world instead of becoming a collection of unrelated assets.

Illustration Simple, bold, and recognizable

Use monoline shapes, sharp angles, sparks, and portal rings. Keep line weight consistent, limit each graphic to one or two key ideas, and let orange lead with cyan or magenta as supporting accents.

Photography Moody, cinematic, and immersive

Focus on contrast, glow, texture, and low-key lighting. Avoid bright flat daylight or generic stock imagery that would weaken the cinematic direction.

The completed system board combines logo variations, palette, typography, and scalable mark applications in one summary view.

10 · APPLICATION Brand applications

Carry the identity into everyday brand materials

Once the core identity was established, I applied the BlazingMind Studios system to a coordinated stationery set. The business card and letterhead let me test whether the logo, typography, color palette, and supporting graphic details could stay recognizable outside of the style guide itself.

These applications use repeated brand elements such as the flame-and-brain mark, cyan, magenta, and orange accents, dark framing shapes, and consistent type. The goal was to keep the materials professional and readable while still making them feel unmistakably connected to the studio's visual personality.

Business card Front and reverse applications

The business card pairs a light information side with a darker reverse side to show how the same brand system can shift tone while staying consistent.

Letterhead Template and finished example

The letterhead carries the same system into a larger professional format. The logo anchors the page, while the subtle oversized brandmark and edge treatments add personality without disrupting the written content.

11 · OUTCOME Final identity

One system, ready for more than one application

The final result is a cohesive visual identity that connects the studio's mission, voice, logo, color, typography, illustration, and photography direction. Each element supports the same bold and cinematic personality while leaving room for the brand to expand into future projects.

The strongest result is not one isolated logo. It is the consistency between the mark, the color system, the type choices, and the creative direction around them.
RecognitionDistinctive visual mark

A clear symbol and wordmark give the studio a recognizable identity.

ConsistencyShared visual rules

Color, typography, and supporting imagery follow the same brand direction.

VersatilityMultiple applications

The system can move across digital interfaces, social media, promotion, and merchandise.

ConnectionFoundation for later work

The identity establishes the visual language carried into later BlazingMind Studios projects.

The original logo rationale describes the desired bold, cinematic, fiery, imaginative, sleek, modern, and energetic qualities.
